Molot

Molot is a free compressor VST by vladg sound, this compressor plugin is not transparent at all, it is full of character and can change to sound characteristics dramatically. Molot is generally made for Drum Busses, Group channels and sends as it is heavy on the CPU.

Molot does not claim to emulate any hardware unit but the result can be compared to some of the famous analog compressors. The user interface is hard to understand so I recommend you to read the manual to understand how the Molot compressor plugin functions.

DC1A by Klanghelm is a compressor full of characters of good old analog hardware compressor units. DC1A is a little brother of DC8C. It has some of the power settings from its Big brother DC8C and assigned them into only two simple input and output knobs make it easy to use.

Rough Rider 2

Rough Rider 2 is a vintage style modern compressor VST by Audio Damage that provides a uniquely warm sound. Perfect for adding compression effects to your drum buss but be careful as the nature of this compressor VST is very aggressive. it also great for warming the synths, basses, guitars, and vocals.

It is not a compressor to use on every audio or midi track, Rough Rider 2 is best for adding a pumping effect to rhythmic tracks. Use the mix knob to reduce its aggressiveness.

OTT

OTT is a free multiband compressor VST plugin by Xfer Records who created popular wavetable synth Serum. OTT is one of the widely used or overused multiband compressors by EDM producers as it tends to make any dull sound shine thanks to its upward/downward compression algorithm.

It is a very aggressive multiband compressor used by many famous EDM artists like Skrillex. Use this plugin after applying the reverb to get that shinny pumping reverbed tail effect.

MJUC jr.

MJUC jr. is a free variable tube compressor VST by Klanghelm has some analog kind of character to it. The combination mk1 and mk2 from its big brother MJUC make the core of MJUC jr. The interstage transformer and the two gain stages make a very deep and lively processed sound.

MJUC jr. is capable of producing subtle compression to aggressive pumping compression. It has two knobs one for compress and another for makeup gain, one switcher to switch the time constant.

We always need a good spectrum analysis, this one, is not only very good, it’s free and 64 bit !

Conclusion:

Of course you can use the 32 bit version of Wavosaur if you still want to use 32 bit plugins (the majority of free plugins are 32 bit!) But nothing prevents you from using the two versions of Wavosaur : 64 bit when you need large amount of RAM for editing, and 32 bit when you need a large choice of VST plugins.
